Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate team learning from Unity’s problems

Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate will be informed by the wave of negativity that greeted the release of 2014 series entry, Unity.

Assassin’s Creed: Unity released to mixed reviews and angry responses from players; it suffered from some spectacular bugs, a number of crashes, major problems with online connected features, and performance issues.

It was hailed alongside Halo: Master Chief Collection as one of 2014’s worst launches, and Ubisoft eventually cancelled the Season Pass and gave away free content as an apology.

In the IGN video below, members of the Assassin’s Creed development team discuss what it was like to witness that feedback, and how they’re hoping to leverage lessons learned in the next entry, Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate.

I actually really liked Unity, especially after five patches dropped, and thought it was one of the best-written games in the series to date. We’ll see how Syndicate builds on the good parts of Unity in late October.
