Star Wars Disney Infinity re-release on the cards - rumour

Star Wars is a no-brainer for Disney Infinity, and at long last it looks like it's happening.

A Star Wars re-release called Disney Infinity 3.0 has reportedly leaked from German retailers.

We have to lable this one a rumour as we haven't seen the original source, but the story was originally reported by DisKingdom, which provided a convincing-looking image.

The site later removed the article at Disney's request, which in itself is pretty telling, but not before ComicBook.com got hold of the details. Additionally, the official Disney infinity Twitter posted this:

Which is a Yoda-like twisting of German grammar translating as something like "Patience, you must have." Come on, y'all; you're not even trying to keep this secret.

According to the leaked details, the new starter pack will launch on August 20 on all platforms in Europe. It comes with Clone Wars-style Anakin Skywalker and Ahsok Tano figures as well as a playset piece, and goes for €70 on PS4 and Xbox One, or €60 on PlayStation 3, Wii U and Xbox 360.

If it all turns out to be true (which it probably will), then cover art suggests we can expect to see Darth Vader, Yoda, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Princess Leia, R2-D2 and C-3PO in-game, and probably several of them as add-on figures, too.

Disney has declined to comment on the matter officially.

We've been expecting a Star Wars update for Disney Infinity for some time, and there're already some hints about it in-game.

The last refresh, Disney Infinity 2.0, added Marvel characters to the toys to life universe, so Disney clearly isn't averse to expanding the roster. With Star Wars fever peaking towards the end of this year, it would be mad not to capitalise on it - especially as Clone Wars is such a great fandom entry point for kids, as well as being popular with adult fans.

Thanks, Destructoid.
