Four VR prototypes are in development at CCP

CCP is developing four VR prototypes at the company's Atlanta and Shanghai studios.

One of these prototypes has something to do with throwing fireballs, something CCP boss Hilmar Veigar Pétursson
had discussed before pertaining to Kincet.

This particular prototype is in development at the Atlanta studio, with a VR headset and a “jumbling of hardware and technologies," says PCgamesN. The project also includes physics-based box kicking and the ability to ripple a hexagonal map of Iceland.

The team in Atlanta is also working on a project where two players compete in disc-hurling - which is a bit like Tron. Another is a ship spinner which allows the user to inspect large ships from EVE lore using their hands and head.

At CCP Shanghai, there's Project Nemesis which is a "static shooter" where users run a turret on a battleship. Players will move their head to aim, and stroking or tapping the side pads of the Gear VR headset will fire.

Nemesis is running on a smartphone for the time being, but other platforms are possible.

“Where [VR Labs] is going to go, we’re not entirely sure,” said Pétursson. “This is really rough, basic prototype stuff, [but] has the potential to go somewhere. We want to replicate the success of the journey of Eve VR.”

EVE Fanfest 2015 kicked off today, and you can watch a video of CCP's other VR game, EVE: Valkyrie, through here if you missed it earlier.
