Bryan Shannon, a former Maxis employee who worked on 2013's SimCity was among those who were laid off recently. Shannon saw the recent popularity of Cities: Skylines and decided to make some content for the game through the Steam Workshop.

To help him do that, he started a Patreon campaign. The campaign has already helped enabled the creation of two buildings in the workshop.

The idea is support him as he looks for a new job.

"I'd love to generate content for a community that loves to mod their games, but the process takes a bit of time that takes away from my job search. So while I'm on the lookout for full-time work, or contracts as they come up, this is something I feel like we can all enjoy! More content!" he wrote.
