We Happy Few debut hits you upside the face with a frying pan

Contrast developer Compulsion Games has revealed its next project - the delightfully creepy-looking We Happy Few.

we_happy_few

We Happy Few is set in "a drug-fuelled, retrofuturistic city in an alternative 1960s England" where "a plucky bunch of moderately terrible people trying to escape from a lifetime of cheerful denial".

Players are tasked with blending in with the other inhabitants, and as the announcement trailer below suggests, not doing so has grave consequences.

This is the project Compulsion was teasing with that freaky artwork, then. We don't really know anything else yet - platforms and genre are up in the air. Compulsion will be showing the game off at Pax East next weekend, though, so expect more details soon.
