World of Tanks is huge and hugely profitable, and Paradox Interactive could have been in on that action.
World of Tanks was just a little bit too different and a little bit too expensive for Paradox, CEO Fredrick Wester has revealed.
Speaking to DigitalSpy, Wester said he was pretty keen on the prospect of publishing the Wargaming hit when the opportunity arose.
“I didn’t have the money to pay up. I was really thrilled by the idea, but we weren’t sure about the business model, either, because we haven’t tried that before,” he said.
Elsewhere in the interview, Wester said the publisher passed up The Banner Saga, Xenonauts and Pid, because although they were really good games, they weren’t “Paradox games” – they didn’t match Paradox’s pillars of replayability, demanding gameplay, player-forged stories and modularity.
This follows on from Wester’s overnight comments that his vision for Paradox is “more Goat Simulator, less Call of Duty”.
