Banjo Kazooie spiritual successor coming from Rare veterans

Banjo Kazooie may be languishing unloved in Microsoft's library of licenses, but that doesn't means fans don't have something to look forward to.

A group of former Rare employees has banded together in a new indie team called Playtonic Games.

This would be reason enough for celebration, but the group has declared its first project will be a spiritual successor to the Banjo Kazooie series.

The news comes via NeoGAF, pulling from the latest issue of Edge, so we don't have many more details as yet. You can go stalk Playtonic's website, though, where the teaser image above was posted.

Interestingly, Playtonic said it hasn't locked down platforms; it expects to release on Steam Early Access and selected consoles, but will make a push for Wii U if Nintendo fans indicate their interest.
