Just in time for the launch of the New 3DS in the west, Nintendo will be patching Amiibo support into Super Smash Bros. 3DS.

According to a press release obtained by Nintendo Life, Nintendo is preparing a patch for Super Smash Bros. 3DS that's going to add Amiibo support to the fighter.

"A free update will also be released on 10th February for Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS that will enable amiibo from the Super Smash Bros. Collection to be used with the new systems," reads the press release.

Super Smash Bros. on Wii U is already enjoying this feature and it only makes sense for Nintendo to add the same feature to the handheld port close to the launch of the New 3DS, which natively supports Amiibo figures.

New 3DS XL launches this February in the west.
