Yasunori Mitsuda will provide the score for crowdfunded JRPG Edge of Eternity, developer Midgar Studio has announced.

Mitsuda's credits includes Chrono Trigger, Xenogears, Chrono Cross, Xenosaga, Soul Sacrifice, Kid Icarus: Uprising and many more.

"I’ll take part as a music composer, looking forward to create music for such an epic perspective, in a world which I really love," Mitsuda said.

"I’m sure the game will be a great work with a collaboration between French and Japanese creators."

Edge of Eternity, for those who came in late, is inspired by RPGs like Final Fantasy 7. Set in space with a steampunk aesthetic, it's being put together by an international team, and is coming to Linux, Mac, PC, PS4 and Xbox One, with cross-save expected between all platforms.

It originally hit Kickstarter in September 2013 but failed to generate enough interest to be successful. A second crowdfunding campaign will being on February 15.
