Valve responds to recent Counter-Strike match-fixing scandal, bans offenders

Valve has investigated the recent case of match-fixing involving two teams in the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive professional scene and decided to ban those involved from future tournaments.

Recent allegations involving match-fixing between iBUYPOWER and NetcodeGuides.com - two of the professional teams that played in Cevo Season 5 - came to light.

Valve has took notice of those allegations and later confirmed them by investigating the activity of the accounts of those involved. A few high value items won from the match in question were transferred to iBUYPOWER players and NetCodeGuides founder, Casey Foster.

"All together, the information we have collected and received makes us uncomfortable continuing any involvement with these individuals," wrote Valve on the official blog.

"Therefore we will be directing our CS:GO event partners to not allow any of the following individuals’ participation in any capacity in Valve-sponsored events: Duc “cud” Pham, Derek “dboorn” Boorn, Casey Foster, Sam “Dazed” Marine, Braxton “swag” Pierce, Keven “AZK” Larivière, Joshua “Steel” Nissan."
