DMi announced that it has acquired exclusive rights to develope future NASCAR games, taking over from UK-based Eutechnyx. Ed Martin, who worked on multiple NASCAR games, is leading DMi Games and has penned an open letter to the fans.

"As of January 1, 2015, DMi became NASCAR’s exclusive licensee for video games and digital entertainment," he begins.

"It is a deal that had been in the works for several months. But it was something that could not be disclosed until everything was finalized. And by “everything”, I mean a very long and complex set of negotiations and agreements. Just to give you some context, a contemporary NASCAR video game has over 1,000 licensed and approved properties in it. That’s a lot of stakeholders and people to get organized!"

In the letter, Martin explained that DMi now owns "core art assets such as tracks and cars." He also confirmed that the new studio is working on multiple games, including a sim racer for PC, PS4 and Xbox One, to be released in 2016.

Martin also confirmed that DMi has acquired NASCAR Manager and will give it a re-release soon.

An update to NASCAR '14 was in the works at previous developer Eutechnyx and is scheduled for a spring 2015 release on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
