The Assassin’s Creed movie will be released on December 21, 2016, distributor Fox has said.

The Hollywood Reporter notes that the game adaptation will release a week after a Star wars movie spin-off. Good luck with that.

The Assassin’s Creed movie stars Michael Fassbender, who featured in the most recent X-Men movies, Prometheus and Inglorious Basterds. It’s directed by Justin Kurzel, who made the gruesome Australian crime movie Snowtown.

The project was originally announced in 2012 and there have been rumours that Robert Downey Jr might make an appearance.
