BioWare offers Dragon Age: Inquisition multiplayer primer

Dragon Age: Inquisition's multiplayer is pretty tough, but BioWare has a few tips to help you get started.

Dragon Age: Inquisition's multiplayer is designed for four players, working co-operatively.

Your team's goal is to trek through a series of increasingly difficult zones populated with enemies and neutral wildlife, eventually defeating all baddies. All XP and loot earned is shared across the whole party.

Sounds pretty simple, right? But there's a big difference between calling up tactical view to make AI companions enact your strategy and getting real people to play nicely.

BioWare has a few tips to help make it easier, including two very important pieces of advice:

  1. Know your role
  2. Play your role

Again, it sounds simple - but you'd be amazed how many people don't understand the Holy Trinity of RPGs. Tanks: it's not your job to do damage. Keep the baddies focused on you so they ignore the rest of your team. Mages: you need to protect the tanks and keep the field under control. Rogues: kill everything, and kill it quick - start with those archers!

Head on over to the Dragon Age website to read the full primer; it's basic stuff, but well worth reading even if just to help you understand the depth of ignorance responsible for the errant behaviour of your random pick up multiplayer partners.
