West Games, developers of the troubled Areal project are back to the scene with practically the same pitch as before, just with a new name: Stalker Apocalypse.

First up, let’s remind ourselves of earlier proceedings. Back in July, West Games started a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter for Areal. The developers claimed the game to be a spiritual successor to the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series. The pitch was later revealed to be infringing copyright of Survarium, a game that was also inspired by the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series.

A whole bunch of claims and counter-claims were made, which later resulted in Kickstarter removing the game.

West Games is now back, and is asking for $600,000 on World Wide Funder. The game’s new name is Stalker Apocalypse, which the developer notes has been copyrighted.

Curiously, the word ‘Stalker’ here does not appear to be an acronym like the original S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series. The $600,000 funding goal however is more realistic than Areal’s $50,000 Kickstarter goal.

The team is promising PC and console versions for what looks like a similar game to Areal.

West Games also posted a video that illustrates the idea of the game better, which looks to have more emphasis on story and investigations than their Areal did.
