Sons of Anarchy: The Prospect headed to mobiles next year

The Sons of Anarchy game is real, but it’s only for mobiles at this stage.

A Sons of Anarchy game has been on the cards for quite some time. A long-teased console game was pitched to companies including Rockstar, but was eventually put on ice back in 2012.

Earlier this year, series creator Kurt Sutter popped up again, saying a game adaptation of Sons of Anarchy was “definitely happening”. This is presumably what Canadian developer Orpheus Interactive has announced as Sons of Anarchy: The Prospect.

We’ve not heard of this developer before, and Sons of Anarchy appears to be its first major project. A quick browse of employees on LinkedIn reveals few triple-A connections, although one senior programmer has served stints at Frontier Developments and BioWare, and the technical director previously worked at EA.

According to Game Informer, Orpheus is sharing development with Silverback Games, a team which largely works on point-and-click games, and working closely with Sutter on the project.

The game’s website says the project is headed to mobiles in 2015, with few other details known. It will release episodically, and tell the story of a previously unknown charter of the Sons of Anarchy Motorcycle Club, with new characters and a new location.

It’s unclear whether Sutter’s earlier description of the game as a “first person, action adventure” with “HD graphics” which “represents the evolution of gaming” still holds true.
