Wattam is the new PS4 game from Katamari Damacy creator Keita Takahashi

Independent studio Funomena announced Wattam today during Sony's PlayStation Experience, and Katamari Damacy creator Keita Takahashi is heading up the development.

Funomena was formed by former thatgamecompany vets Robin Hunicke and Martin Middleton. Hunicke previously worked with Takahashi at Tiny Speck on Glitch.

The idea for the game came about when Takahashi was playing with his two-year old son.

What was shown of Wattam today consisted of a cube-shaped fella with a firecracker attached to his head. He is the Mayor of the game world and other characters will are promised to be revealed throughout 2015.
