Gears of War Xbox One has seen "massive progress"

Gears of War is coming to Xbox One, but Microsoft seems loath to tell us anything about it. At least the latest update reassures us that it's definitely still happening.

Gears of War developer Black Tusk is making "massive progress" on the first Xbox One entry in the series, according to Xbox boss Phil Spencer.

This will be the first entry in the Gears of War franchise developed outside of Epic or subsidiary People Can Fly, but the team's not going it alone; long-time series producer Rod Fergusson made the jump to the Microsoft studio to oversee his baby. Although he got less attention than Cliff Bleszinski, Fergusson was just as vital to the original trilogy.

We had hoped to see Gears of War at The Game Awards 2014 later today, but Xbox isn't showing anything. It seems like a pretty good bet for E3 2015, at least in teaser form, although Spencer has warned it might be a lengthy wait.
