Destiny: The Dark Below brings back one of the most popular mechanics of the game to date – swords.
UPDATE: Activision has made the video available on YouTube.
There’s one Destiny mission where players get the chance to wield a Hive sword, and everyone always wants to do it, because it’s rad.
We knew that swords would be making a comeback in expansion The Dark Below, thanks to a bit of data mining, but only that they’d be used in the Crota’s End raid somehow.
Now it looks like they’ll be avilable somewhere on the surface, too – maybe in a mission, or maybe in general. You can see them in action in a new Destiny developer diary posted on GameInformer.
The video also reveals that Strike missions will be part of the main quest. In the core Destiny game, Strikes – co-op missions designed for three players – didn’t really tie into the main story.
The video also includes a look at the new PvP maps, some snippets of the new raid, discussion of how Bungie has responded to feedback and more. It’s definitely worth watching if you’re a fan; I need to go have a lie down in the quiet after watching it.
The Dark Below arrives on December 9 and I cannot wait.
