Activision announced today in a press release that Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is the biggest entertainment launch of the year. Exceeding in revenue all other entertainment releases this year. That includes movies, music, and books.

The franchise as a whole has generated revenue of over $10 billion in sales worldwide, exceeding box office receipts for franchises like The Hunger Games, Transformers, Iron Man, and The Avengers, combined, according to the publisher.

Advanced Warfare was also confirmed to be the highest-selling digital launch in console history according to Xbox Live, PlayStation Network and internal Activision estimates.

Unit sales data was not provided, unfortunately. Activision did say that "sales and engagement are up through the first week compared to last year." Season pass sales were also up.

Gamers have played 370 million matches in the game's first week of release, levelling up over 200 million times in the multiplayer mode.
