Halo: The Master Chief Collection playlists trimmed to ease matchmaking woes

Halo: The Master Chief Collection multiplayer matchmaking is an acknowledged shambles, but at least 343 Industries is scrambling to fix it.

The latest update on Halo: The Master Chief Collection’s disastrous matchmaking is the removal of several playlists from rotation to try and cut down wait times.

Team Hardcore, Rumble Pit, Halo 4 and SWAT (rotational) are off the cards for now.

On Halo Waypoint, 343 Industries said the trimmed playlist selection is a response to the failure of the last patch to resolve matchmaking issues.

“This concentrated playlist layout will allow players to get into matches faster, and improve overall match times,” the developer said.

“While we anticipate that concentrating our players into fewer playlists will have an effect on match times, it will not solve all Matchmaking issues. We are currently investigating CUs and server side tweaks over the next week to address matchmaking issues.”

A content update will be released tomorrow to fix scoring and states, as well as a minor fix for team skill matching. More substantial fixes are yet to be dated.

In the meantime, 343 Industries recommends quitting and trying again if you are stuck in matchmaking for longer than five minutes, as “the majority of successful Matchmaking matches are found within 2-4 minutes of searching”.
