Super Smash Bros. pre-orders tracking ahead of Mario Kart 8, says Nintendo

Nintendo's Reggie Reggie Fils-Aime has said that pre-orders of Super Smash Bros. Wii U are exceeding those of Mario Kart 8.

Speaking to Bloomberg in an interview, Fils-Aime attributed the rise in pre-orders to the increased install base following the successful launch of Mario Kart 8.

"The launch of Mario Kart 8 has essentially doubled our Wii U sales year-on-year," he said.

"Our expectation is that the sell-through for Smash is going to be very strong, certainly on par with what we saw with Mario Kart 8. We think the impact on hardware will be similarly dramatic."

The Wii U version of Super Smash Bros. is out November 21 in North America, November 28 in Europe.
