Award-winning indie The Stanley Parable has sold through 1 million copies.

The Stanley Parable released in 2011 as a mod, but was remade professionally to release in late 2013. Just one year on, this version has hit an enviable milestone.

The news came via creator Davey Wreden, who seems understandably chuffed:

Narrator Kevan Brighting also celebrated:

The genuinely funny walking simulator was on sale recently to celebrate its first birthday, which may have helped push it over the million sales mark.

The Stanley Parable is really wonderful. You can, and should, grab it on Steam for Mac and PC.

  • The Stanley Parable out now on OS-X

The Stanley Parable is now available to the Mac fans among us, having recently launched in OS-X flavour. It’s part of the Steam Holiday Sale today, actually, so if you’re keen to check it out you can do so at a relatively low cost. I quite recommend it. Thanks, GameInformer.

  • The Stanley Parable calls shenanigans on narrative-driven design

The Stanley Parable isn’t just another experiential, exploratory indie; it’s a love letter to and a daring critique of a trend that has both liberated and bogged down gaming as a medium.
