Alone in the Dark creator returns to survival horror

Alone in the Dark pioneered many of the concepts of survival horror, and creator Frédérick Raynal is ready to have another go.

After a couple of years of running indie studio Ludoïd with his wife, Raynal has joined forces with three friends to form Gloomy Wood, a “video game band”.

Having teamed up with three more veteran developers, the French group’s first project is 2Dark, a psychological horror drawing inspiration from the clichés of horror and cop movies and TV shows. Players take on the role of police officer Mr Smith, and must rescue children from the lairs of multiple serial killers.

Gloomy Wood is currently seeking €30,000 for 2Dark through Ulule, a French crowdfunding service. Raynal was also behind Little Big Adventure, if that sways you to contribute.
