Escape the chainsaw-wielding psychopath and flee Beacon Mental Hospital.
You begin the game in the shoes of Detective Sebastian Castellanos, accompanied by Connelly, Joseph and Kidman. Make you way to the hospital doors and follow Joseph, where another cutscene will start.
When you’re back in control Castellanos is hanging upside down. Grab the knife and when the guy chopping up the body moves away, close in on the keys hanging up and take them. You can’t fight this guy, so get to the doors near where you were hanging and unlock them.
As you go up the stairs and along the platform you’ll set off an alarm. From here just run in the only direction you can, following any on-screen prompts.
Climb out the blood pit using the ladder and go through the door. Here you can follow the corridor until you jump into the water. Climb out again and you’ll see a corpse in a wheelchair. Head on over to find the Old Note from Sewer which has some advice on how to escape.
Go through the open doorway at the end on the right and up the ladder. In the room nearby you’ll find the Boiler Room Note. Go through the next door outside (you’ll need to open it with the panel) then keep moving until the chainsaw psycho turns up. You have to hide in the locker here until the psycho has passed through, then come out of the locker and make use of the stealth button.
He’ll be in the room on the left and you want to be all the way at the far end, through the door on the right. From here you can use bottles to distract him and stay hidden behind furniture. It’s not particularly hard, but it’s a good opportunity to practice something you’re going to be doing a lot during this game: distract and escape.
Once you’re through the door carry on through the asylum. You need to run here, and once you’re safe the credits will begin. After that, head through the lobby where you were at the start of the game, then outside for another cutscene.
Welcome to The Evil Within.
