Yes. As in Attila the Hun and his one million horsemen. The ultimate warrior from the East and leader of the Hunnic Empire, his reign stretched from the Ural River to the Rhine River and from the Danube River to the Baltic Sea.
While he was successful in plundering the Balkans, he was never able to take Constantinople, and his attempt to take over Roman Gaul was thwarted despite marching as far as Aurelianum.
He was defeated at the Battle of the Catalaunian Plains, but didn’t let it sway him: he set his eyes upon Rome after invading the northern Providences of Italy; however, he died before he could take on Rome.
Total War: Attila will be challenging, as the game is designed for “Total War veterans.”
Eurogamer mentions in its preview that diseases will play an important role in the game.
“Diseases were a key feature of the period,” said communications manager Al Bickham. “We’ve decoupled the squalor/sanitation balance that we had in Rome 2 from public order. It’s now directly related to the health of your city. If you don’t keep a city clean, it may suffer disease.”
Such maladies will spread during sieges, by friendly armies, by enemy armies or and even along trade routes. Your city populations will decline, and your sick soldiers will not fight very well.
A new region overlay has been added and provides the player with details such as “region wealth and also religious disposition.”
The family tree, a feature not included in Rome 2 – which fans lamented – has been brought back. This will allow players to manage their armies, friends and fellow Romans as well as increase their standing.
A new weapon in the form of dynamic fire has been added, allowing buildings to burn and fire to spread.
The game is currently in development and expected sometime next year.
