Oculus Rift once seemed like an impossible dream but the movement is seriously taking off.

Oculus Rift, like any new gaming technology, needs loads of content if it is to succeed, and this weekend’s announcement suggests that content may be forthcoming.

Speaking at the Oculus Connect event, as reported by Joystiq, VP of product Nate Mitchell said that over 130,000 users have registered to develop for the VR headset.

Meanwhile, the tech’s software development kit has been downloaded over 550,000 times, suggesting there are even more interested developers than registrations reveal.

As for demand for the content they produce, the 325 Oculus Rift apps available through the official sharing platform have been downloaded over 699,000 times.

VR is happening, you guys. It’s really going to be a thing! This is very exciting.
