Final Fantasy Type-0 has a release date, and it's much sooner than we expected.

Final Fantasy Type-0's release date was officially announced at the Tokyo Game Show today.

The HD upgrade of the PSP action RPG arrives on PS4 and Xbox One on March 17 in North America, March 19 in Japan and March 20 in Europe.

That's much sooner than expected, as Square Enix only revealed the project at E3 2014.

It wasn't the only surprise for Final Fantasy fans: the publisher brought a playable demo to the show floor despite leaving the game off its announced TGS line-up. You can see a few new screens in the gallery below, along with a new trailer.

Square Enix has also announced that Type-0 will include a code to download a demo for Final Fantasy 15.
