Sony is expecting to lose £1.3 billion this year

Sony is not doing good financially, in fact, it hasn’t been doing good for a while now. The firm has quadrupled the expected loss for the financial year.

Reuters is reporting that Sony has revised its loss forecast from 50 billion yen, to 230 billion yen (£1.3 billion), resulting in an operating loss of 40 billion yen instead of a 140 billion in profit.

Sony’s smartphone division is the one struggling apparently. Sony said it’s “the impairment of goodwill in the mobile communications segment,” which is the reason for the 180 billion yen (£1.04 billion) impairment.

It would be interesting to see if this affects the way the Japanese firm spends and invests in the PlayStation division, seeing as the forecasted loss is that big.
