Save the dogs and bring peace (sort of) to the Red Skoprions at the Prison.

Wasteland 2 guide: The Prison

Heading back from Damonta, go towards the Ranger Citadel and you’ll hear from General Vargas. There’s trouble with the Red Skorpions and Rangers and he wants you to head to the Prison.

Once inside the prison you’ll need to fight the Red Skorpion soldiers blocking your path. Once defeated head into town, which is empty. Go along the path past the hanging posts and around the bend through the gated area. You may have to fight some militia on the way before you reach the actual prison.

Head for the outpost ahead and then out the left entrance and up the path. Keep going under the freeway and past the farm on the left. You need to follow this road all the way to the prison where you’ll either meet Commander Danforth or you can call him using the comms system on the outer fence.

Tell him that you’re not responsible for poisoning the dogs and that you’ll help by finding a cure. Once he agrees, go back to the farm you passed earlier.

Find Dog Cure

At the farm fight the foreman and the wild dogs. Now talk to Jobe – you’ll find him in the chicken pen. He poisoned the dogs in order to get the Rangers to kill Danforth, and he’ll give you the cure. Head back to the prison.

Talk to Danforth on the comms system and he will let you inside, warning you he will kill you if you’re lying to him. Go past the large turrets and into the prison area until you end up in a conversation with General Therman Campbell. Danforth will walk up with his dog, Reina.

You want a peaceful resolution here, so you’ll need a Smart Ass level of 4 or more. To get the most out of the backstory and get a peaceful solution, chose the following conversation cues

Heal Reina the dog first, then go off to the kennel to heal the rest. Follow the path that’s behind him and to the left of the cage-like building where the guards are. When you see the kennel you’ll have a conversation with a Red Skorpion – tell him you’re here to help the dogs and heal them. Now go back and talk to Danforth.

He will now agree to talk with the General. Go out of the Prison, through Prison Valley and into the World Map.

Moving Forward

Now Damonta is saved and the Prison has been dealt with, and you’ve cleaned up your side quests in Arizona, it’s time to move on to L.A. Go the Ranger Citadel and the find General Vargas and Mercaptain. After the conversation you have the chance to recruit 10 follows to take to Los Angeles with you. Once you’re prepared, go to the room in the left hand corner and talk to Vargas before you get in the helicopter and head to the ruins of Los Angeles.
