Xenoblade Chronicles is coming to New 3DS and New 3DS XL only

The highly-anticipated port to the Wii RPG, Xenoblade Chronicles, will only be released on the newly-announced New 3DS and New 3DS XL, and not the regular 3DS and 3DS XL as previously believed.

The New 3DS and New 3DS XL were both announced yesterday as part of Nintendo Direct. The updated version of the handhelds feature a better CPU, a new button and better 3D.

According to Nintendo (via Gematsu), the reason is because the newer, faster CPUs are needed to run the game, that also means that the game will never see a 2DS release.

Xenoblade Chronicles has been announced for a 2015 release in Japan, with no western release date as of yet. The New 3DS and New 3DS XL are both coming to the west in 2015, so expect it to be released during the same year.

Thanks, Gamespot.
