Civilization fans are among the most dedicated and passionate gamers out there, and finally there’s an official convention just for them.

Firaxicon is the first ever convention dedicated entirely to Firaxis games.

The inaugural event is scheduled for September 27 in Hunt Valley, Maryland, which is the place Firaxis games and Sid Meier call home.

A fan event, the con will cater to XCOM, Pirates, and Railrod fans in addition to the afore-mentioned Cvi tragics.

Attendees can meet and greet the Firaxis team, enjoy a special presentation called An Evening with Sid Meier as well as many other panels and presentations, play Civilization: Beyond Earth ahead of release, sign up for the first ever XCOM: Enemy Unknown Invitational Tournament for a chance to win “THE GOLDEN MUTON”, tour the Firaxis Games office, play boardgames with Firaxis designers, receive swag and buy merchandise.

“And much more”, says 2K Games. Holy moly.

Tickets cost $40 and can be purchased from Eventbrite. They cover all events, dinner and drinks on Saturday night, and the aforementioned swag. You can’t but them at the door. Visit the EventBrite page for details on discounted hotel rooms, directions, Wifi and other con details.

Sometimes we include links to online retail stores. If you click on one and make a purchase we may receive a small commission. For more information, go here.
