Here's the first trailer for E.T. landfill documentary Atari: Game Over

Atari: Game Over, the documentary chronicling a garbage dump dig looking for old E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial cartridges, is out this fall and you can watch the first trailer below.

Thought to be an Urban Legend for years, the rumors were finally proved true in April when Fuel Entertainment and local garbage contractor Joe Lewandowski  acquired the rights to excavate the landfill and found exactly what they were looking for.

The documentary series was produced by Simon and Jonathan Chinn from Lightbox.

Here's some shots and a clip from the dig which occurred on April 26.

The Alamogordo City Commission in New Mexico said back in May it would offer up 700 of the E.T. cartridges for sale at the New Mexico Museum of Space History, and would hand 100 over to Lightbox and Fuel Entertainment.

Atari: Game Over will be released on Xbox this fall.
