Someone is giving away thousands of dollars to WoW and Hearthstone streamers

World of Warcraft and Hearthstone Twitch streamers who catch the eye of the mysterious Amhai have received huge cash donations for their efforts.

Amhai, who is described as a "very, very wealthy individual" who doesn't seem to want anybody to know who they are, haunts World of Warcraft and Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft livestreams, suddenly and inexplicably handing over huge sums as donations to talented players and streamers.

According to The Daily Dot, the generous soul has given away over $100,000 over the last year.

The usual channels yield almost no information on this benefactor, whom one friend said doesn't really want to be known, while denying speculation that the name is attached to a wealthy oil baron (of all things).

I'd like to imagine Amhai was once a penniless gamer before catching a break, who now wants to pass their good fortune on.

The video below shows the reaction of streamer Sodapoppin when Amhai suddenly dropped a cool $10,000 in his coffers. I think he takes it more calmly than I could have.

Thanks, Kotaku.
