Valiant Hearts: The Great War is a new kind of war story. We've seen adorable cartoon styles before. We've seen emotional storytelling before. We've even seen trusty dog companions. But all at once, in a stunningly gorgeous side-scrolling adventure? That's new.

The launch trailer below shows off the UbiArt project, one of several Ubisoft has been quietly working on in the middle of its traditional triple-A marathons. Valiant Hearts reviews have been mostly positive, although reviews of the E3 2014 trailer were filed on damp tissues.

Valiant Hearts: The Great War is available now on PC, PlayStation 3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
