MGS 5: The Phantom Pain multiplayer lets you raid another person's Mother Base

Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain has a multiplayer component that sees players raiding the Mother Base facility of other players, and defending their own in kind. It sounds a bit like Dark Souls invasions.

You've probably seen this already, but if you haven't seen the Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain E3 2014 trailer, you can do so through the link. It's quite dark.

Speaking with CVG, Kojima said, "People who want to create a Mother Base in a very detailed way will be able to design it through the interface, or using their smart device.

"I cannot talk too much, but for people who saw the presentation, it ends with your Mother Base being attacked. People can infiltrate you, and you can infiltrate other people's Mother Base."

We're not sure if this can happen while Snake is out in the open world - meaning he has to travel back to defend Mother Base - or if the feature can be turned off for those looking for uninterrupted play. We'll update you once we hear more from our own crew on the ground at E3 2014.

Stay tuned.
