Move over, Flappy Bird - Make it Rain is bringing in $50,000 per day

What is it with mobile games and sudden, highly lucrative fashions? The latest breakout hit is a ridiculously simple affair called Make It Rain: The Love of Money.

Make It Rain has you swiping dollar bills as quickly as possible to earn money. Once you've collected enough cash, you can invest in various money-making ventures, eventually leaving you fabulously wealthy.

If you think it sounds like Cookie Clicker or Candy Box, you're not wrong - but this one seems to lack the humour and playfulness that made both those games fun and thought-provoking.

Also unlike Cookie Clicker and Candy Box, Make It Rain is raking in cash. Speaking to VentureBeat, Space Inch founder Joshua Segall revealed his company is earning about $50,000 per day from ads and in-app purchases.

Seagall also said Make It Rain cost $10,000 to make and Space Inch spent $1,000 marketing it when it released on Android and iOS in April. It has since been downloaded over 1 million times.

Nobody seems certain what it is that makes some mobile games like Candy Crush Saga, Threes, Draw Something and Flappy Bird so popular, but with figures like that it's no wonder everybody's rushing to try and find out.
