This Kinect-powered virtual office shows that Microsoft's sensor can still do neat stuff

Microsoft may be ditching Xbox One's mandatory Kinect requirement, but the motion modding community continues to impress, thanks to this virtual office concept cobbled together by several first-gen Kinect bars, an Oculus Rift headset and lots of technical know-how.

What you're looking at is the work of Oliver Kreylos, who has made it possible to explore a virtual office environment in real-time using three Xbox 360 Kinect sensors and an Oculus Rift VR headset.

Although the image quality leaves much to be desired, it shows that when combined, both Kinect and Oculus can be used to create virtual worlds that can be navigated through natural motions.
