Sony and developer Alawar announced the game's release over on PS Blog EU, and confirmed that it will include RPG Story mode, multiplayer tournaments and a classic match-three Endless mode.

It should appeal to fans of the Puzzle Quest series, given its emphasis on RPG tropes and narrative, with a plot that revolves around Aztec emperor Montezuma. He's been forced to flee to a realm filled with monsters to escape the advance of Spanish forces, which triggers a puzzle-filled adventure.

We'll have more on Treasures of Montezuma: Arena soon. Stay tuned.
