Capcom to invest $80 million in new facilities

Capcom has begun construction on a pair of new research and development buildings, a project which will cost $80 million. That means there'll be 2500 internal devs by March 2022.

The new centres are both in Osaka, Japan, putting them near to Capcom's head office. They'll feature state of the art development facilities, including sound studios and motion-capture.

"Capcom has been focusing resources on strategic and growing areas under a policy of selection and concentration in order to operate with speed and flexibility," the company stated in a note to investors."Constructing these new R&D buildings will make game development operations more efficient by centralising these operations and upgrading speed and control."

In January Capcom promised to recruit around 100 new developers every year, and this new investment keeps that promise very much alive.
