Chaos Reborn: XCOM creator Julian Gollop takes his latest project to Kickstarter

Chaos Reborn is the remake of XCOM creator Julian Gollop's classic strategy title Chaos: The Battle of Wizards. Gollop has launched a Kickstarter for the Unity3D title, which hopes to raise some $180,000 towards development.

The Chaos Reborn Kickstarter has 30 days left and at the time of writing has amassed $1,310. It's a re-imagining of Gollop's 1985 ZX Spectrum classic, that looks to deliver intense hex-bases strategic duels between a variety of fantasy warriors and mages.

Gollop promises a vast single-player campaign, 2v2 co-op play and deep strategic elements, along with an intriguing art style. Its realms are procedurally-generated, and as such, will put players to the test against unexpected opponents. These turn-based battles are waged in similar fashion to the original Chaos; with players summoning mythical beasts and fighting alongside them across hex-based maps, while matching and countering the opposition.

On the Kickstarter page, Gollop revealed that he is aiming for a Spring 2015 release window on PC, Mac and Linux, and that both online multiplayer and a third of the 80 expected spells are now implemented.
