Sony Pictures developing a film based on the rise of Sega against Nintendo in the 90s

Console Wars: Sega, Nintendo, and the Battle that Defined a Generation is an upcoming book chronicling the fight -read war- between Nintendo and Sega in the 1990s. Sony Pictures has bought the rights to the book and is producing a feature film and a documentary based on it.

Book Trade reports that Sony Pictures is working on two adaptations of the book. The first is a feature film which will be written and directed by Seth Rogen (Pineapple Express, This is The End) and Evan Goldberg. Both of whom have written a foreword for the book.

The second will be a documentary film, with Rogen and Goldberg producing.

The book is described as "a riveting behind-the-scenes business thriller that chronicles how Sega, a small, scrappy gaming company led by an unlikely visionary, took on the juggernaut Nintendo and revolutionized the video game industry." It will be published this August.

Are you excited to read the book or watch the film? Let us know your thoughts.
