According to the game's website, Renowned Explorers - International Society is set in the 19th Century. Players are tasked with finding the "the most legendary treasure the world has to offer" ahead of the World Expo, and must therefore gather a crew and follow leads around the world, while managing time and resources.

The game begins on a randomly-generated map. Once players locate an island likely to house a treasure, they enter turn-based gameplay to explore. Enemies can be defeated with combat or conversation, or a mix of both.

Abbey Games said it drew inspiration from Jules Verne, Indiana Jones, X-COM: Enemy Unknown and Fire Emblem for the project, and promised more news soon. In the meantime, you can chekc out the website, which offers a couple of character profiles; some detail about the world map, locations and transportation; music; and a hint that there may be dinosaurs.

The first release from Abbey Games, Reus, is an interesting take on the god sim genre.
