PS Vita Slim Borderlands 2 bundle hits North America in spring

The new, slimmer PlayStation Vita arrives in North America in just a few months at most, bundled with Gearbox's first portable take on the Borderlands universe.

The limited edition bundle was announced for a northern spring release at a Sony even in Los Angeles this afternoon, according to Polygon. It will go for $199 and include an 8GB memory card.

This is the first time we've really heard anything about the Vita version of Borderlands 2 since it was first announced, with SCE America marketing boss John Koller revealing it has four-player co-op and will ship with six DLC packs - Captain Scarlett and Her Pirate’s Booty, Mr. Torgue’s Campaign of Carnage, Psycho Character Class, Mechromancer Character Class, Ultimate Vault Hunter Upgrade Pack 1, and the Collector’s Edition Pack.

Perhaps most delightfully, Borderlands 2 Vita will support cross-save with the PS3 version - meaning you can pick up where you left odd when switching between platforms.

The Vita 2000, which arrived in Japan last year and launched in the UK last week, is smaller and lighter and uses an LED screen rather than the original's famous OLED effort. Matt said the difference is noticeable side-by-side, but that on it sown the slim Vita's screen is great.

In the UK, the original Vita model is "almost sold out"; we're yet to hear anything about North American stock situation but as the new version is launching it's also likely to be thin on the ground stateside.

Although Sony's release date for game and console is vague, 2K did recently tweet that Borderlands 2 Vita would release on March 18 - a date it later retracted as erroneous.
