Multiplayer mech game Hawken getting full Steam integration

Developer Adhesive Games has announced that online Mech mayhem simulator Hawken is moving from its own client into the Steam environment. Unlike many other games that have entered the Steam ecosystem post-launch, Hawken is moving fully and will only be accessible through Valve's client from now on.

"Today, we're bringing LIVE services down to begin our transition to Steam," the announcement blog reads.

"From this point forward, a Steam account will be required to play HAWKEN. HAWKEN will no longer be playable using the existing launcher and the game will only be accessible through Steam."

Until Hawken is placed onto the Steam Store, however, there will be a moratorium on new players. Existing players will receive Steam keys that will add the game to their Steam libraries.

The real rough spot in the move is that all players must now download the game through Steam regardless of whether they already have the existing build on their PCs.
