To the Death from ex-Infinity Ward developers lands on Kickstarter

To the Death, a 2D action side-scroller from ex-Infinity Ward and God of War developers, has landed on Kickstarter.

Independent studios Scary Monstro and Section Studios have teamed up on the project. Todd Alderman and Francesco Gigliotti were lead designer and engineer, respectively, at Infinity Ward on the Call of Duty franchise, and later worked at Respawn Entertainment on Titanfall.

Section Studios' creative director Cecil Kim was the visual development lead on God of War 3 at SCE Santa Monica Studio.

Toy the Death "fuses the beat'em up and shoot'em up genres into something new and refreshing," offering various gameplay mechanics at 60 frames per second.

"We wanted to develop a video game that's easy to pick up but hard to put down. With art direction from Section Studios' Cecil Kim who's been instrumental with the God of War franchise, the concept art and visual effects are as captivating as the game is fun," said Alderman.

In the game, which is slated for Steam on PC, Mac, and Linux, players take on the role of two warriors who have killed each other but have a vendetta so deep, it continues after death in "The Crawl," the space between life and death.

Along with single-player, the game contains co-op well as splitscreen back and forth versus mode.

To the Death is currently in its prototype phase with a Kickstarter goal of $400,000.
