The Banner Saga pre-orders open, 'Insane Viking Pack' detailed

The Banner Saga developer Stoic and indie publisher Versus Evil have teamed up to open pre-orders for the Kickstarter-backed strategy title, along with a new 'Insane Viking Pack.' It's brimming with additional goodies.

In a press release issued yesterday, Versus Evil confirmed that the Insane Viking Pack comes with an additional character, a bonus ability item and three tracks from the game's score, as penned by Journey composer Austin Wintory. You'll also get a discount if you pre-order the pack ahead of the Banner Saga's January 14 launch.

Kickstarter backers get the Insane Viking Pack as standard, so they won't be missing out on any of the booty.

The pre-order character is a Viking called Tryggvi. He's a trouble-maker and is skilled with spears. His pearl necklace item is exclusive to pre-orders and allows a 10% chance to do 2x damage in combat. Ouch.

The Banner Saga launches January 14 on Steam, GOG.com, GameFly, GameStop and Gamers Gate for PC and Mac.
