PS4 shortage: being unable to sell consoles to consumers 'breaks my heart,' says Tretton

PlayStation 4 appears to be in short supply in North America, according to comments from PlayStation US boss Jack Tretton. The exec appeared on an official Sony podcast and stated that it breaks his heart to turn paying consumers away.

You can listen to the recording over at PS Blog US, during which Tretton said, "You have competition out there. There are lots of things that people can spend money on, especially during the holidays; and the holidays only come around once a year, so that’s really when you want to take advantage of the market opportunity...It breaks my heart if somebody's got $400 in their hand and they want one and we can't sell them one."

Meanwhile in Europe, PlayStation's Andrew House stated that PS4 will be in "good supply" over the holiday season.

It follows claims that Sony has been holding PS4 stock back, a rumour that Tretton denounced during his interview.
