War Thunder: Ground Forces expansion enters PC beta, paid options available

War Thunder developer Gaijin Entertainment has confirmed that the PS4, PC and Mac MMO will receive a new expansion in December. Say hello to Ground Forces, currently in beta on PC. If you haven't been invited, you can pay a lot - and we mean a lot - of money to gain access.

In a press release sent to VG247 today, Gaijin confirmed that the expansion's closed beta has started on PC today, and that it looks to encourage online battles in the air and on land. It's part of an ongoing process that looks to expand the scale of War Thunder's battles across oceans, skies and the ground.

Anton Yudintsev, CEO of Gaijin Entertainment said in a statement, "Our ultimate goal is to have hundreds of thousands of individual games made up of dozens of players who can experience intense battles where they come from the skies, the land and eventually from the sea. The launch of Ground Forces Expansion closed beta is another step towards that goal.”

Gaijin is inviting participants of War Thunder's in-game challenges through November to take part in the closed beta, but you can also buy your way in, along with exclusive content.
