PS4 consoles available at Covent Garden event on launch night

PlayStation 4 hopefuls in the UK who missed out on a pre-order have a chance to pick up a console at the midnight launch if they can make their way to a special event in Covent Garden.

Gamespot reports Sony will make an unspecified quantity of PS4s available for sale at the PlayStation Lounge #4ThePlayers launch event at 17 Bedford Street, Covent Garden, WC2E 9HE.

The consoles will be available on a first-come first-served basis, and you can start queueing from Thursday morning ahead of midnight launch. Sony will provide pizza and energy drinks to those lining up, and bring in Tinie Tempah to keep them entertained.

SCE UK boss Fergal Gara said Sony wanted to give fans a lat minute chance to get a PS4 before Christmas.

“We really wanted to offer some way for people to buy on launch day, and this is a fantastic opportunity for anyone that hasn’t already pre-ordered to get their hands on a PS4 on day one. The excitement in the run up to our UK launch has been phenomenal, and we want to thank gamers for their support by giving them the chance to take a PS4 home at the earliest opportunity," he said.

The PS4 goes on sale as soon as November 29 rolls around.
