Dead Rising 3 German release quashed by ratings board

Dead Rising 3 has drawn the ire of the German ratings board, denying the Xbox One launch title a local release.

The news broke via German sources today, and Microsoft provided Destructoid with a confirmatory statement.

"Dead Rising 3 will not be released in Germany as part of the Xbox One launch line-up on November 22 having been unable to attain an age-rating upon review by BPjM (Bundeprüfstelle für jugendgefährende Medien), the country’s entertainment software self-regulation body," a representative said.

"While Microsoft is disappointed with this decision, we respect the views of the review panel and have withdrawn Dead Rising 3 from Germany’s Xbox One launch line-up. Dead Rising 3 will still be available in all other launch markets on 22 November 2013. Beyond that, we have no further comment.”

Precise details of the ruling were not provided, but presumably the USK's decision hinged on violence.

The Dead Rising 3 launch trailer makes it look pretty good, so that's quite a blow for German gamers. None of the three Dead Rising games release so far have been released in Germany.
